Metal jacketed gaskets
Metal-Jacketed gaskets are used for high pressures and temperatures. The metal coating gives resistance and protects against corrosion, while filling gives soft material resilience. They are specially designed for boilers and heat exchangers and allow its use in very narrow surfaces. The determination of metal material and filling material will be based on fluid and temperature must withstand the seal.
Coestan has an urgent delivery service for 48 hours and special prices for scheduled orders. Metal jacketed gaskets are presented in different profiles for different applications:
Form C: Metal plating not closed, for very narrow surfaces that do not allow double jacketed.
Profile F8: Double jacketed closing the filler. The gasket completely covers the surface where it is seat. It is the most common, especially designed for boilers and, with metal jacketed bars, for heat exchangers.
Profile FW3: Double jacketed closing the filler. It has the same application of the F8 profile, but the corrugated shape of the metal part gives greater resilience.
Profile F17: The metal part that closes the gasket is extended toward the inside or outside of it. By design, the response to deformation is better than in the previous cases and produces lower bolt loads.
Sometimes the flat gaskets with inner or outer metallic eyelet are also classified as metal jacketed gaskets. It consists in a flat non asbestos gasket to which is added one metallic flanging or eyelet. The result is a gasket that increases the range of pressure and temperature it supports. The main advantages of the gaskets with inner eyelet are:
- Prevents water hammer
- Increases range of pressure and temperature of the gasket
- Extremely gastight
- Prevent environmental pollution
Coestan has in stock inner eyelets and moulds for DIN and ASA standard measures for its application in the required quality of gasket: non asbestos board, tanged graphite, PTFE, etc. But also we offer our customers the opportunity to make this type of gasket according to their own requirements.
